Arkansas picked up a commitment from a quarterback earlier in the week, but it appears they’re not stopping at just one in the 2013 class. The Razorbacks added a pledge from Plantation (Fla.) quarterback Tyler Cogswell on Friday afternoon.
“Officially Committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks,” Cogswell tweeted.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder held offers from Central Michigan, FIU, Hawaii, Nebraska and South Alabama at the time of his commitment. Cogswell’s stock has taken off as of late, and he’s performed well at several Elite 11 quarterback competitions around the country. He picked up his offer from Arkansas earlier this week after being evaluated by offensive coordinator Paul Petrino.
“I was very excited, I was really happy,” Cogswell told Rivals regarding his offer from Arkansas. “It’s a really big blessing, and it’s still overwhelming. I had to settle down a little bit because I was too excited. My family is extremely happy for me, too. They know I’ve been waiting on this offer for a while, so they’re just happy that I finally got it.”
Last season as a junior, Cogswell threw for over 1,800 yards and posted a 23-10 touchdown-interception ratio. He becomes the Razorbacks’ sixth commitment for the upcoming class next year.
The program picked up a pledge from Fayetteville (Ark.) quarterback Austin Allen and two of his teammates on Monday, giving Arkansas two signal-callers at what should be a young position when the 2013 class arrives.
Congratluations to Quarterback Tyler Cogswell who has been working with Mastrole Passing Academy for 4 years.
